Great American Smokeout--November 20

Roughly one in four teenagers and one in five adults in the United States are current smokers...are you one of them?

AC0228_JPG_72.jpgIf not, I'm sure you know someone who is. Well on Thursday, November 20, the American Cancer Society and the 32nd annual Great American Smokeout are challenging everyone to be smoke free. Tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States, and half of all Americans who continue to smoke will die from smoking-related diseases. Use November 20 as the day you quit for good or encourage your family and friends to!

Breaking the habit isn't easy, but there is help out there. The American Cancer Society provides Quitline® as a resource for those trying to quit smoking at 1.800.227.2345. Quitline® connects callers with a trained counselor to offer free and confidential counseling. By calling Quitline® and creating a plan to stop, smokers will double their chances at kicking the habit for good!

Want to get involved even more? Share your story online at www.sharinghope.tv for the Great Americican Smokeout video contest. You can inspire others by telling everyone how you quit or your efforts to make your community smoke-free. You could even win a flip camera! The deadline is November 20 at midnight though, so you better get started!
